Ledge Hill Farm is a family owned Christmas tree farm, specializing in balsam and fraser firs. Located in Readfield, Maine, the 15-acre farm features breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Washington and the Western Maine mountains.

Our two firs
Balsam or Fraser?
Both grow well on our hill. Here is how to tell them apart when you are standing in the rows.
Balsam fir
The classic Maine Christmas tree. If you want the house to smell like the woods, pick a balsam.
Strongest fir scent
Soft, flat, dark green needles
Lighter branches, best for lighter ornaments
Fraser fir
Sturdy and tidy. A good pick if you have heavy ornaments or want a tree that holds its needles into January.

How a visit works
Four steps, about an hour.
1
Park near the barn
Look for the hand-painted Ledge Hill Farm sign. We will hand you a saw and point you to the rows.
2
Walk and choose
Balsams and Frasers of every height. Take your time.
3
Trim and wrap
We'll trim your tree and wrap it for the drive home at no extra charge.
4
Warm up
Hot chocolate and cookies are on us. Pull up an Adirondack chair by the fire.
Wreaths
Made fresh every weekend.
Our wreaths are made from locally fresh cut balsam fir. Pick one from the shed or order a custom design in your colors.

A first tree, then a tradition.
The family is super welcoming and helpful since this was our first tree-cutting experience! We hauled the kids down in the sled and they were smiling ear to ear. Hot chocolate and cookies inside the barn to end the day was perfect for my 3.5 and 18 month old. Views were absolutely stunning especially when the sky cleared up!
